SPECIAL CHILDREN WITH AUTISM 254

Special Children with autism 254 was founded 5 years ago with the aim of sensitizing the public on Autism related disorder. The birth of this idea came about after one of us could not share the challenges that he was going through with his special need child. I shared with him and our friends about my daughter who has Autism and thus decided to start a group whereby we could take our children out like any other children and mingle with our friends without worrying so much about how other people would react.

Unfortunately, the child with special need passed on. From that point I realized that God did not give me a special need child to just sit down and worry about, but to also help parents with special needs children accept what God has given them through encouragement and education; e.g. Therapy, Diet, Educational material and many other aspects.

My daughter is now twelve years old and she has attended 6 different schools, since most schools do not have a unit for Children with special needs and do not have trained personnel to cater for them. This is one of the biggest challenges in Kenya and East Africa in general. A solution therefore needs to be sought urgently to stem the growing number of children affected with Autism in Africa.

SPECIAL CHILDREN WITH AUTISM 254 is now a growing organization that deals with:

Creating awareness on Autism through:

Educating the public and removing the stigma that is related to Autism.

Training Parents/Guardians and Caregivers.

Provide training materials to care givers and families.

Identifying families that have children with Autism related behavior, and training them on how to effectively take care of their Autistic children. Our Project is funded through well wishers.

Our Vision & Mission:

To remove the Stigma, Educate, create awareness and source for Professionals who can volunteer to share their skills with our teachers, parents and caregivers. Also sourcing for Educative material and therapy equipments which can be used in training, helping children who cannot afford school fees due to the high cost charged in schools offering care for Autistic children.

So far we have a group of 15 parents with children affected by Autism. Our common goal is to create an environment where our children will be treated with dignity and respect.

Conclusion.

It is with this in mind that SPECIAL CHILDREN WITH AUTISM 254 is embarking on a mission to request all well-wishers in joining us to help our Children live a full and Happy life and eventually realize their dreams just like any normal child anywhere in the world.

Your contribution both in material and/or Financial will be  instrumental in seeing this endeavor come to fruition.
